Without getting too carried away with regard to methodology, we spent some time scrutinizing the dating personals in the New York Times. The great majority of women are looking for a man who will treat them well, be able to laugh at things, are smart, and are also possible wealthy. Too many men, however, have been the unwitting dupes of the movie industry because they spend so much time looking for perfection – or, at the very least, the most attractive candidate they can get. You may find that some men can be superficial. However, if it’s pretty that they want, then give them pretty!

It’s possible for anyone to improve. All it takes is a little effort and persistence. Join Weight Watchers before you begin your quest and lose those necessary pounds! Include some new mix and match items to your collection of apparel. If you don’t feel like you can trust your own tastes, ask a friend to shop with you.  You know the kind we mean – someone who always seems to be able to match just the right jewelry with the right set of clothes. (This is not the time to be cheap, you’ll have this for the rest of your life.) Schedule your professional portrait session in the afternoon so you can get your hair done at a salon in the morning.

Millions of people are on our own now because of divorce or being widowed and numerous dating sites especially for males and females 50 and older are ready to join up with them. Some of these have no cost at all. There are often free trial periods. To find a wide variety of “senior dating sites” or “boomer dating sites” simply enter the search terms into Google or another search engine. If you aren’t getting enough hits, try another option. Or, a couple at once. The internet has opened the door to wondrous opportunities. Grasp them firmly.

Even though you may think it’s going well after a man looks at your profile and initiates conversation, he may vanish and you may never hear from him again. It doesn’t matter. That is an irrelevant matter. You may want to do this yourself at times. Consider each date to be an adventure in which you will meet a new and possibly exciting person. Don’t be too hard on yourself if it ends in a handshake rather than a kiss. Forget about last night’s failed date, smile, and move on.

Perhaps you will find the man of your fantasies the first time you go out. Perhaps you will not. Despite what you may feel, it’s not the end of your world. The reason you weren’t very attracted to that guy you dated once might because he was having a case of “bad beard day”. Let him have another try. Or even a third try.
